Vancouver cell phone stores robbed; suspected getaway car burned – KOMO News

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – Police in Vancouver are trying to find the people responsible for breaking into three cell phone stores and setting fire to a stolen vehicle that’s believed to be a getaway car.

After officers responded to alarms from two cell phone stores early Saturday morning, they stepped up patrols around other similar businesses.

Police say an officer spotted someone running from a strip mall that is home to a cell phone store. The person got into a waiting vehicle.

The officer stopped the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen, but the driver took off and officers did not give chase.

The vehicle was later found engulfed in flames.
