TV still the ‘must-have’ gadget for Christmas Day, despite rise in on-demand – Telegraph.co.uk

It may have been overshadowed in recent years by mobile phones and tablets screening new-fangled internet subscription services.

But the humble television has maintained its slot at the heart of a family Christmas, a poll has shown.

The traditional living room television is considered the “must-have gadget” on Christmas Day by 44 per cent of Britons, the Radio Times has claimed.

A poll of 1,000 people showed more than four in every five people watch television as a family, with only 20 per cent using on-demand services such as Netflix or iPlayer.
